Avocados are stone fruits and naturally nutrient dense, containing nearly 20 vitamins and minerals.
They are a great addition to any healthy eating diet so here are five benefits of eating them.
1. Lowering cholesterol
Avocados not only help lower bad cholesterol, they may also increase good cholesterol. A 1996 study in the Archives of Medical Research found that patients with high cholesterol who incorporated the fruit into their diet for a week had a 22 per cent decrease in bad cholesterol and an 11 per cent increase in good cholesterol.
2. Anti-inflammatory properties
Because of the antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids and fatty alcohols, avocados have great anti-inflammatory properties.
